Duties Safely operate your personal or commercial vehicle, including box trucks, vans, or other delivery vehicles, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Safe Handling of Deliveries: Handle all packages, medical specimens, and sensitive materials carefully to prevent damage, loss, or contamination, using appropriate coolers and reusable ice packs for temperature-controlled deliveries and following all applicable handling, storage, and safety procedures. Heavy Lifting and Package Handling: Ability to lift, carry, and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds, following proper lifting techniques and applicable safety guidelines to prevent injury and ensure safe handling of deliveries. Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs of inbound and outbound shipments, route details, and delivery confirmations. Equipment Preparation: Keep a compatible smartphone charged and ready for dispatch, and ensure required delivery equipment, including a cooler, reusable ice packs, and a dolly or hand truck when needed, is available and in good working condition. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues encountered during routes. Requirements Age: 21–75 years old. Location: Live within 25 miles of ZIP code 40299, Louisville, Kentucky. Driver’s license: Hold a valid driver's license. Driving record: No more than two moving violations or at-fault accidents combined in the past three years. Vehicle: Own and maintain a reliable, registered car, SUV, or minivan from model year 2011 or newer. Auto insurance: Maintain primary auto insurance meeting state minimum bodily injury and property damage requirements. Workers’ compensation: Maintain qualifying workers’ compensation insurance or enroll in the available Occupational Accident Insurance program for a weekly fee. Tax registration: Register using an EIN for a business or a U.S. Social Security number for an eligible sole proprietorship. Screening and training: Complete required contractor qualification screenings and online delivery preparation modules. Smartphone: Have an iPhone or Android device for GPS tracking and order scanning. Delivery equipment: Provide a cooler with reusable ice packs for temperature-controlled deliveries and a dolly or hand truck for transporting packages. Physical ability: Be able to lift and transport packages weighing up to 50 pounds. Weather conditions: Be willing to drive in inclement weather. Professional appearance: Wear a solid white or light-blue polo shirt, solid-colored pants, and comfortable shoes or boots. Avoid athletic wear, sweatpants, flip-flops, high heels, and sandals.
