About the role You'll own everything that happens between a trailer arriving at our gate and its inventory going live in the system. That means unloading, verifying, and putting away every LTL, FTL, and mixed-pallet shipment accurately and on time, while leading a team of leads and associates on the dock. The stakes are high: our kitting and prep lines depend on exact component counts. A single miscount can stall production or put a client's Amazon FBA shipment at risk. Your job is to make inbound accuracy something the rest of the building never has to worry about. You'll also be the operational voice for our in-house warehouse management system (WMS), working directly with the developers building it. What you'll doRun receiving Lead accurate, efficient unloading of LTL, FTL, and mixed-pallet consumer packaged goods (CPG) shipments Own dock scheduling and appointments, sequencing freight against labor, storage capacity, and downstream kitting and outbound commitments Translate weekly forecasts into staffing and productivity plans Hit dock-to-stock targets, and expedite critical components so active kitting runs and FBA shipments never wait Manage returns receiving: inspection, disposition, and reconciliation against client records Protect inventory accuracy Ensure every receipt is verified against BOLs and packing lists, including during peak periods Keep receipts accurate across a large, varied SKU base: pack configurations, unit-of-measure conversions, client-specific labeling, and the component SKUs behind variety packs and multipacks Document shorts, overages, damages, and mislabeled freight, communicate them to the right teams and clients, and fix the root cause rather than just adjusting the count Keep WMS records accurate for location, condition, and client ownership Partner with Inventory Control and Prep on slotting and put-away: velocity-based placement, staging for upcoming kitting runs, and disciplined overflow management Support cycle counts and reconciliation, and maintain lot, date-code, and client traceability where required Lead the team Train, mentor, and evaluate leads and associates to build a high-performing team Cross-train the team and build a leadership bench so no shift depends on one person's knowledge Set clear standards and address performance and attendance issues fairly and promptly Explain the why behind changing priorities, not just the what Work with fellow Area Managers to balance staffing across the building Manage clients, suppliers, and carriers Serve as the inbound point of contact for clients: onboard new SKUs and programs, follow client-specific SOPs, and report on inbound performance Hold suppliers and carriers to standards for appointments, labeling and barcodes, palletization, and documentation Pursue OS&D claims, chargebacks, and corrective actions, using data to drive lasting improvement rather than one-off recovery Coordinate with Prep, Kitting, and Outbound so inbound priorities match production and shipping schedules, and component shortages surface early Own the metrics and the WMS Track throughput, receipt accuracy, dock-to-stock, and labor productivity, and report results clearly to the Operations Manager and partner teams Lead process improvements in layout, workflow, and labor standards based on observed data Act as the inbound business owner of our in-house WMS: define receiving requirements, test new features before they reach the floor, document interim workarounds, and prioritize the fixes that matter most Keep everyone safe Maintain a safe dock: trailer restraints, powered industrial truck operation and certification, housekeeping, and traffic control Ensure compliance with OSHA, regulatory, and client requirements, and support internal and client audits What you bringRequired 5+ years running a receiving function with full ownership Experience in a high-SKU, high-complexity, high-volume receiving environment, handling CPG freight via LTL, FTL, and mixed pallets People…
