Interpak combines U.S. manufacturing with an established international supplier network, primarily in Asia. This allows us to help customers balance product design, quality, cost, lead time, inventory, and supply reliability. The Opportunity Interpak is seeking an experienced and highly organized Import Operations Manager to oversee and help administer the day-to-day coordination of finished products and selected materials imported from China and other overseas markets. This is a hands-on position responsible for keeping imported-product programs organized and moving forward. The manager will maintain schedules, monitor open items, coordinate product specifications and samples, track production and shipments, review import documentation, and communicate changes to internal teams. The successful candidate will work closely with overseas suppliers, our China-based team, sales, customer service, purchasing, quality, production, accounting, and shipping. This role requires someone who communicates clearly, follows through consistently, and works collaboratively to solve problems before they affect a customer. The position will also provide day-to-day oversight of Interpak’s shipping department and help ensure that its priorities, documentation, and communication are properly managed. Key Responsibilities Coordinate imported-product programs from initial specifications and supplier quotations through samples, approvals, production, shipment, delivery, and final follow-up. Maintain accurate project schedules, open-item lists, product specifications, approvals, costing information, purchase documentation, and shipping records. Establish clear responsibilities and deadlines for overseas suppliers and internal team members and follow up consistently until each requirement is completed. Work collaboratively with sales, customer service, purchasing, production, quality, accounting, and shipping. Communicate changes, delays, risks, and unresolved issues promptly so that the appropriate people can respond before customer commitments are affected. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with manufacturers and suppliers in China and other Asian markets. Coordinate prototypes, product samples, quotations, production approvals, quality requirements, packaging specifications, and delivery schedules. Review purchase requirements and help ensure that supplier orders are complete, accurate, approved, and properly documented. Track overseas production schedules and verify that suppliers meet agreed-upon quality and delivery requirements. Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal personnel regarding international shipments. Review commercial invoices, packing lists, landing bills, country-of-origin information, tariff classifications, and other required import documentation. Analyze total landed cost, including product cost, tooling, freight, duties, tariffs, brokerage, and other related expenses. Monitor supplier performance and coordinate corrective action involving quality, cost, delivery, documentation, or communication. Identify alternate suppliers and sourcing options that may improve cost, quality, lead time, capacity, or supply continuity. Anticipate potential problems and take action before they affect production, delivery, the customer, or Interpak. Oversee shipping department priorities, workflow, scheduling, documentation, and communication with other departments.
