Import Operations Assistant (Ocean LCL)
CTL LAXAbout us CTL USA, Inc. (Charter Link Logistics Group) is an NVOCC and international freight forwarder. Our New York branch handles import and export LCL consolidation for customers and overseas partners around the world. Our import team is growing, and we need someone to keep shipments moving from the time a pre-alert arrives until the cargo is released and delivered. This is a hands-on operations role. You’ll spend most of your day on shipment files, carrier and CFS updates, and system entries, not on sales calls or customer quotes. If you like detail work, deadlines and solving problems before they turn into charges, you’ll fit right in. What you’ll do Set up new import shipments in our system using documents from our overseas offices Track incoming shipments and keep arrival dates up to date Follow up with warehouses, truckers and carriers so cargo is picked up and delivered on time Check that shipments have cleared customs and are ready for release Watch shipment deadlines so customers aren’t hit with extra storage fees Send status updates to our overseas offices and customer service team by email Keep shipment files complete and organized for billing Help the import team with daily reports and other tasks as needed What we’re looking for No prior experience required. We’ll give you full training. High school diploma required; a college degree, or studies in logistics, supply chain or business, is a plus Comfortable with computers, email and Microsoft Excel Detail-oriented and organized Clear written and spoken English Willing to learn, ask questions and follow up Able to handle several tasks at once in a busy office Must be authorized to work in the U.S. We’ll train you on our systems and procedures. There’s room to grow into an Import Operations Coordinator or Specialist role.
