Import Coordinator
Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp.Import Coordinator The Import Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with GSC Global Service Center on daily import operations and provide timely internal /external customer service in accordance with the established procedures. This position works closely with customers, overseas offices, terminals, truckers, rail providers, customs brokers, Customs Border Protection officers and internal departments to ensure shipments are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. Job Description: 1. Import Customer Service Support GSC with daily import troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues. Coordinate with customers, overseas offices, terminals, carriers, brokers, and internal departments on cargo release, movement, and shipment exceptions. Monitor long-idle shipments and special handling cases, including demurrage, detention, damage, hazardous cargo, and transloading. Coordinate import-to-export re-export activities and escalate complex issues as needed. 2. Customs & OBL Related Monitor CBP holds, customs exams, cargo releases, and General Order shipments. Process import OBLs, including receipt posting and resolution of endorsement issues. Maintain import documentation in compliance with CBP and applicable regulations. 3. Charge & Billing Related Review and reconcile freight and shipment-related charges and coordinate corrections. Process refunds, post applicable local fees, and follow up on outstanding charges. Monitor and resolve demurrage, detention, and other charge-related exceptions. 4. Data Quality Ensure accurate and timely shipment data entry and maintenance in company systems. Support process improvements, system enhancements, automation, and testing. 5. Policy & Other Follow company policies, procedures, U.S. Customs, FMC, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management. Qualifications: 2 years of experience in ocean transportation, import operations, logistics, freight forwarding, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of ocean import procedures, terminology, documentation and Customs disposition codes. Experience working with terminals, truckers, rail providers, customs brokers, CBP officers or other transportation service providers. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to understand and communicate effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds. Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and coordinate solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with transportation or ocean carrier operating systems is a plus.
