ers, develop clear import policies, and craft operational procedures that simplify complex regulations. Your objective will be to ensure the proper authorization, documentation, and measurement of U.S. imports, while collaborating with the logistics team to handle freight booking.
Responsibilities:
• Establish and enhance the U.S. import control framework for Saab, Inc., managing entry reviews, exceptions, and CBP inquiries.
• Build strong relationships with site shipping teams, program managers, brokers, and forwarders to facilitate seamless shipments and compliance oversight.
• Draft and implement operational import policies and SOPs related to clearance processes, such as Temporary Import Bond (TIB), Carnets, and other import licenses.
• Collaborate with international partners to synchronize import and export activities between the U.S. and other entities.
• Oversee customs clearance by reviewing entry packets and resolving classification and valuation issues prior to broker submission.
• Maintain HTS classifications and ensure compliance with ECCN/USML items, coordinating with the export team.
• Administer Duty-Free Entry procedures by managing contract documentation and coordinating with brokers.
• Manage TIBs, Carnets, and ITAR authorizations, ensuring proper tracking and retention of all related documents.
• Support ACE procedures for imports and monitor duty accuracy and payment processes in collaboration with Logistics and Accounting.
• Oversee broker and forwarder compliance, managing SOPs and performance metrics while collaborating on rates and invoices.
• Review and approve International Shipping Requests (ISR) and domestic tariff questionnaires as assigned.
• Document import and temporary import/export activities using durable record-keeping systems and assist in enhancing these systems as technology evolves.
• Utilize SharePoint and process improvement tools to transform informal knowledge into formal, repeatable processes.
• Evaluate site compliance against established import requirements, directly addressing gaps identified.
• Travel both domestically and possibly internationally, up to 10% of the time annually.

East Syracuse, NY, Auburn Hills, MI, Grayling, MI, Orlando, FL, and West Lafayette, IN: $64,600 - $80,700
Bristol, RI, and Cranston, RI: $71,000 - $88,800
Ashburn, VA, Quincy, MA, and Washington, D.C.: $77,400 - $96,800
Compensation decisions depend on various factors including position responsibilities, location, individual experience, and skills.
Skills and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in international business, supply chain, or related field, with a minimum of 3 years in U.S. import/customs operations or compliance, or a Master's degree with at least 1 year of experience.
• Knowledge of CBP entry procedures, HTS classification, and brokerage filing processes.
• Understanding of relevant export controls to appropriately identify and escalate issues related to DSP-61, TIB, Carnet, or ITAR.
• Experience in drafting or refining procedural documentation that has been applied by others.
• Excellent communication skills for articulating complex issues clearly and effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ACE or GTM tools, along with a willingness to adapt to internal systems.
• U.S. citizenship as a requirement; ability to obtain and retain DoD security clearance may also be necessary.
