Fargo and Moorhead face each other across the Red River, and the interchange where I-29 meets I-94 on Fargo's southwest side is the busiest freight junction in the state. Sugar beet piles line the valley every fall, potatoes and soybeans head out by truck and rail, and the city's own manufacturing base includes a large tractor plant plus a cluster of ag-technology and electronics firms. uses keep spreading west toward West Fargo and Horace. Fargo's location makes the first leg of almost any run easy. Minneapolis is about three and a half hours southeast on I-94, Sioux Falls roughly the same distance south on I-29, and Winnipeg about as far to the north. That puts the whole Upper Midwest within one long driving day. Typical outbound freight includes farm machinery and parts, construction materials and equipment headed for the oil patch farther west, which is also a common reason to swing out toward Bismarck and Williston before turning east again. Spring is flood season on the Red, and in some years river crossings close for days, so watch city updates in March and April. In winter, wind across the flat valley can drift snow over I-29 faster than the plows clear it. Drivers who grew up with that are worth a lot to a dispatcher; send your application below. Pay is a percentage of gross, not a per-mile rate; active drivers average $9,000 weekly gross. No CDL is needed for the pickup position, and the company provides the truck.
