Freight in Mississippi changes character every couple of hours of driving. Up in the Delta, the flat cotton, soybean and rice ground along US-61 calls for planters, sprayers and grain-handling parts every spring and fall. The pine belt across the southern counties keeps sawmills and pole yards working year-round, and the Coast between Pascagoula and Bay St. Louis lives on shipbuilding, port cargo
...
and resort construction. In the middle sits Jackson, where I-55 and I-20 cross and the Nissan plant at Canton pulls a constant stream of supplier traffic up the interstate. That variety keeps a gooseneck busy. A first run might take steel or a skid steer off the I-55 corridor toward Memphis, with the reload heading east on I-20 to Birmingham and Atlanta, or west across the Vicksburg bridge into Louisiana and Texas. I-59 and I-10 tie the piney south to New Orleans and Mobile. Expect heavy heat and humidity from May through September, sudden afternoon downpours, and a hurricane season that can stall Coast freight for days and then bury it in rebuild material. A rotation is roughly four weeks on national lanes, then seven days at your own table, and the last loads of each stretch get planned so the pickup finishes within reach of your corner of Mississippi. The company provides that truck, and it doesn't require a CDL. If the rhythm suits your household, fill in the short application underneath. Pay is a percentage of gross, not a per-mile rate; active drivers average $9,000 weekly gross. No CDL is needed for the pickup position, and the company provides the truck.
