Key Responsibilities
• Operate hostler trucks and yard tractors safely to couple, transport, and uncouple commercial trailers within high-traffic facility footprints
• Back trailers fluidly into designated loading dock bays with tight clearances, ensuring perfect alignment with facility dock doors and safety seals
• Execute frequent drop-and-hook procedures, safely connecting and disconnecting trailer air lines, electrical harnesses, and landing gear components
• Conduct mandatory pre-and post-shift equipment checks on yard trucks and trailers, documenting and escalating mechanical or brake defects immediately
• Stay in constant communication via two-way digital radios or onboard tracking monitors with dock clerks, yard dispatchers, and plant managers
• Audit and verify incoming trailer identification numbers and destination tracking placards against the facility yard management system

Requirements and Qualifications
• Must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident alien
• Must be at least eighteen years old or sixteen years old with a high school diploma
• Ability to pass a mandatory federal background investigation, a drug screening, and a physical stamina assessment
• Must possess a valid State Driver's License; a commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) or prior experience operating terminal yard tractors is highly preferred
• Strong depth perception and backing proficiency to navigate heavy commercial vehicles through strict layout clearances
• Clear verbal communication skills in English to safely relay transport safety warnings and yard movement updates via radio channels
