Hyspeco, Inc.Job Summary: The Career Wayz Apprenticeship Program position is a structured, phased learning role designed to introduce high school students to practical operations work at Hyspeco. The program may include training in warehouse operations, hose assembly, fabrication, and repair technician work depending on the student’s assigned path, business needs, school requirements, readiness, and long-term employment potential. This document establishes the apprentice’s general expectations and selected training phases while referencing the approved job descriptions for each operational role for full duty detail. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibility. The apprentice works under the direction of the Operations Manager, assigned department supervisor, and designated mentor for each training phase. The apprentice’s assigned phases may be customized for each student. Some students may rotate through all four phases; others may be assigned only to selected phases based on department need, student interest, performance, school schedule, age restrictions, safety requirements, and future hiring plans. Duties/Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Report to work on time, follow the assigned schedule, and communicate promptly with the supervisor, mentor, school representative, and parent/guardian when required. Follow all Hyspeco safety rules, department procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and instructions from supervisors and mentors. Participate in the assigned training phases and work only within approved tasks, training level, supervision requirements, and safety limitations. Learn basic company systems, paperwork, part identification, material flow, shop practices, and customer-service expectations appropriate to the assigned phase. Ask questions when instructions are unclear and stop work when a task appears unsafe or beyond the apprentice’s current training level. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the warehouse, hose shop, fabrication area, repair area, or other assigned department. Handle parts, tools, equipment, paperwork, and customer property carefully and in accordance with company procedures. Demonstrate steady progress toward the learning milestones listed for each assigned phase. Accept coaching and feedback from supervisors, mentors, department leads, and school program representatives. Support ISO 9001:2015 requirements as defined in Hyspeco’s quality procedures and processes. Required Skills/Abilities: Reliable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to learn in a professional work environment. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, ask clarifying questions, and work safely under supervision. Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in warehouse, hose assembly, fabrication, repair, or related technical work. Good attention to detail when identifying parts, counting material, reading labels, following procedures, and completing assigned tasks. Ability to communicate respectfully with coworkers, mentors, supervisors, school representatives, and customers when applicable. Ability to use basic computers, tablets, scanners, training materials, forms, and company systems as assigned. Willingness to work in a warehouse, shop, or service environment with moving equipment, tools, parts, noise, and changing priorities. Ability to receive feedback, correct mistakes, and build skill through repetition and hands-on practice. Education and Experience: Current high school student enrolled in or approved for participation in the Career Wayz Apprenticeship Program or similar school-to-work program. Ability to meet school, parent/guardian, and employer requirements for work-based learning participation.
