Heavy Truck Mechanic

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Work Location: In person Work Remotely: No Job Description Sturgeon Transport is seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. This role is ideal for a hands-on mechanic who enjoys diagnosing mechanical issues, performing quality repairs, and helping keep heavy-duty trucks and trailers operating safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs on a fleet of Paccar trucks and Great Dane flatbed trailers. Inspect, diagnose, and repair Class 6 to Class 8 trucks from a variety of manufacturers. Service air brake systems, including repairing or replacing brake components. Mount and dismount truck tires as needed. Use computer diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues and verify correct part numbers. Accurately complete and submit repair and maintenance paperwork in a timely manner. Work closely with shop management and team members to complete repairs efficiently and on schedule. Troubleshoot mechanical issues with trucks, trailers, and related fleet equipment. Qualifications and Requirements Experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks, trailers, diesel engines, brake systems, and related components preferred. Must own basic hand tools required for the job. Ability to safely lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding work. Ability to sit, stand, squat, kneel, and move throughout the workday. Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. Reliable, hardworking, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
