Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Heavy Haul/Oversized Truck Driver to join our team. This role involves commercial truck driving with a focus on over-the-road (OTR) routes, delivery, and the transportation of oversized and overweight cargo. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating specialized trucks and trailers to transport heavy machinery, industrial components, and construction materials while adhering to all DOT regulations. Key Responsibilities: Operate specialized commercial trucks and multi-axle trailers, including lowboys, step-decks, and RGNs, to haul heavy machinery, wind turbine components, structural steel, and oversized cargo. Conduct over-the-road (OTR) driving routes, ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods across various locations. Load and unload machines, construction equipment efficiently and safely, following proper procedures to prevent damage or accidents. Transport military oversized, overweight, or massive industrial and construction cargo that exceeds standard legal road limits while complying with all DOT regulations. Maintain accurate DOT logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo documentation in accordance with DOT standards. Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safety and compliance. Follow all safety protocols related to manual transmission operation, cargo securement, and road safety standards. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and cargo requirements. Safely operate multi-axle configurations ( RGN, lowboys, step-decks ). Transport oversized, overweight, and super-load cargo. Adhere strictly to permit routes and coordinate with pilot/escort cars. Properly secure heavy machinery using chains and binders. Skills Proven 3+ experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on over-the-road routes. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently. Knowledge of DOT regulations governing commercial vehicle operation and transportation of oversized loads. Strong understanding of cargo loading/unloading procedures for heavy or oversized items. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record preferred. Ability to handle physically demanding tasks related to loading/unloading cargo. Great communication skills, stress managing high pressure work environment for coordinating deliveries while following safety protocols. This position is ideal for drivers committed to safety, reliability, and professionalism in transporting complex loads across long distances.
