General Responsibilities Terracon is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic to support the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of geotechnical drilling equipment and support vehicles across our Georgia and Tennessee operations. This is a traveling role that requires regular travel between offices and job sites throughout GA and TN to ensure drilling rigs, trailers, and fleet equipment remain safe, compliant, and in excellent working condition. The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing and repairing geotechnical drilling equipment, hydraulic and electrical systems, drive motors, transmissions, and other fleet maintenance needs. Essential Roles And Responsibilities The employee will be expected to perform the following tasks: Demonstrate an ability to problem solve and implement solutions on routine to moderately complex problems with guidance from management or senior level Exploration Team Members. Work independently with support from a supervisor. Be proficient in servicing multiple drill rigs and trailer repairs where needed. Repair and/or replace faulty parts and systems, perform routine maintenance, i.e. oil and filter changes. Drive all forms of drilling equipment to test once repairs are complete. Inspect and complete routine maintenance of equipment. Follow all safety rules, guidelines and standards across project sites and office locations. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all work performed. Design a plan of action for any maintenance tasks or upgrades. Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records. Monitor the inventory on repair parts, tools, and equipment and order new parts as needed. Validate DOT inspections are current and schedule inspections when needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3-years’ experience. Proficient in geotechnical drilling equipment repairs. Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within first 30 days of employment.
