About the Position PM Truck Repair is seeking a full-time Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic with strong experience in all aspects of diesel truck and trailer repair, from major and minor repairs through maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is a dependable, skilled technician who can work effectively in the shop and independently perform off-site and mobile repairs, including road calls. Key Responsibilities Perform major and minor repairs, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers. Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems. Use manufacturer-specific computer diagnostic programs and follow diagnostic trees to accurately find and fix problems. Repair and service engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, air systems, and emissions/after-treatment systems. Diagnose and repair trailer systems, including brakes, suspension, lighting, electrical, and air systems. Perform inspections and repairs in accordance with applicable BIT (Basic Inspection of Terminals) program and Federal inspection requirements. Perform off-site/mobile repairs and road calls as required. Maintain accurate repair records and communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly. Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong communication with customers and team members. Work safely, efficiently, and with a high standard of workmanship. Required Qualifications Strong knowledge of all phases of heavy-duty diesel truck and trailer repair. Ability to perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems. Knowledge of computer diagnostic programs for different manufacturers and ability to follow diagnostic trees to find and fix problems. Knowledge of the BIT program and Federal inspection requirements. Ability and willingness to work off-site and perform mobile repairs, including road calls. Basic computer skills. Must have own tools. Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and/or use mechanical means to lift components. Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions. Great customer service and communication skills. Responsible, reliable, and ready to work. Valid CDL/Class A is a plus.
