Heavy Diesel Mechanic Apprentice
Evergreen CompaniesDuties: Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on heavy diesel equipment. Assist with diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, brakes, and other components. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and assist with determining appropriate repairs. Perform oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and other scheduled maintenance. Assist with engine, transmission, hydraulic, and drivetrain repairs. Use diagnostic tools and computerized equipment to identify mechanical issues. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic equipment. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts, and labor. Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized. Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Work closely with senior mechanics and supervisors to complete repairs efficiently and correctly. Continue developing technical knowledge and mechanical skills through on-the-job training. Own basic tools that can be utilized on the job. Skills: 2–3 years of experience working on diesel or heavy equipment preferred. Basic understanding of diesel engines and heavy equipment systems. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to diagnose basic mechanical problems and perform repairs with supervision. Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems is a plus. Ability to read and understand service manuals, repair procedures, and schematics. Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely. Valid driver's license. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude. Ability to work independently as skills develop while also working effectively as part of a team. Ability to lift, bend, climb, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
