Hardware Store Manager

Responsibilities Lead and supervise all store operations, including sales, customer service, inventory control, and merchandising to meet business goals. Recruit, interview, train, and develop staff members to foster a high-performing retail team. Manage payroll, scheduling, and employee orientation to ensure optimal staffing levels and operational efficiency. Oversee purchasing decisions, pricing strategies, and stock replenishment to maintain accurate inventory levels. Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems for sales transactions, cash handling, and financial reporting while ensuring accuracy in cashiering and bookkeeping tasks. Implement effective inventory management practices to control stock levels, reduce shrinkage, and optimize product placement. Maintain excellent customer service standards by addressing inquiries promptly and resolving issues effectively. Conduct regular store inspections to ensure safety protocols are followed and that the store environment is organized and welcoming. Manage operational aspects such as budgeting, sales management, shift management, and overall store performance metrics. Skills Proven experience in retail management with supervisory or managerial roles within the hardware or related retail industry. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and communicate clearly at all levels of the organization. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory control, bookkeeping, and operational procedures. Proficiency in POS systems, purchasing software, and basic math for pricing and sales calculations. Effective negotiation skills for vendor relations and purchasing agreements. Experience with employee orientation, training & development programs, and recruiting best practices. Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively. Demonstrated ability to handle cash handling procedures accurately while maintaining phone etiquette and professional communication skills. Knowledge of retail math concepts such as profit margins, pricing strategies, and sales analysis. Familiarity with grocery store or hardware store operations is advantageous for understanding product knowledge requirements.
