Position Summary
As Global Tactical Planner, you will help keep Methanex’s global customers reliably supplied by turning complex, fast-changing information into practical near-term supply chain plans. Methanex is a global producer and supplier of methanol, with an integrated network of production sites, regional marketing teams and in-house shipping capability. In this role, you will monitor developments across that network, assess risks and opportunities, and support timely decisions when operational events could affect product availability or delivery.
You will collaborate with colleagues across Marketing & Logistics, Manufacturing and Waterfront Shipping, Methanex’s marine transportation subsidiary, to evaluate sourcing and distribution options, develop contingency plans and strengthen planning processes. You will also contribute to strategic analysis, reporting and special projects, while providing back-up support to team members as needed.
Position Responsibilities
Global Tactical Planning and Supply Chain Decisions (70%)
• Supports development of the rolling 120-day global distribution plan, considering supply from Methanex production sites, contracted suppliers and market purchases to support reliable customer service while managing logistics costs.
• Build strong working relationships across network so planning decisions are based on timely, high-quality information.
• Bring together information from multiple regions and functions to identify emerging supply risks, opportunities and practical solutions.
• Communicate planning decisions clearly, build alignment across stakeholders and influence outcomes in a global matrix environment.
• Partner with the Global Supply Chain Analyst and Waterfront Shipping to ensure decisions affecting vessel movements are accurately reflected in planning and decision-support tools.
• Provide timely, well-supported analysis for near-term operational decisions, working with regional planners and Waterfront Shipping when priorities shift or disruptions arise.
• Review the tactical planning strategy and process, recommending and implementing improvements that strengthen decision-making and execution.
• Evaluate product-flow and purchasing plans to identify risks, needs and opportunities across the global supply network.
• Assess regional developments and determine where deeper analysis is needed to understand potential supply chain impacts.
Analysis, Reporting and Planning Tools (30%)
• Deliver analysis for the Marketing & Logistics organization, with a focus on tactical options and contingency plans that support initiatives or respond to changing events.
• Prepare regular tactical-planning reports and key performance indicators.
• Bring a global perspective to regional supply issues and help identify the best overall solution for Methanex.
• Support longer-term analysis by assessing the feasibility of sourcing options and other future plans.
• Prepare and maintain reports and process documentation
