Job ID: 17799 Business Unit: New York City Transit Location: Brooklyn, NY, United States Regular/Temporary: Regular Department: Maintenance Planning Date Posted: Oct 26, 2026 Description JOB INFORMATION: Title: General Superintendent, MOW Predictive Maintenance Authority: TA Department: Subways Division/Unit: MOW / Maintenance Planning Location: 130 Livingston St Hours: Various Reporting Manager (if Applicable) Assistant Vice President Deadline (if Applicable) Open until filled Compensation: $167,186 (GEN010) POSITON SUMMARY: This position oversees managerial and supervisory staff responsible for developing and implementing predictive maintenance strategies, executing special projects along the railroad right-of-way, and managing material planning. The incumbent will support capital and operating projects and coordinate material requirements and availability to facilitate maintenance, repairs, and asset renewal. The selected candidate will lead the research, evaluation, and application of emerging technologies to detect, prevent, and address railroad asset failures and defects. Responsibilities include analyzing asset condition, failure, and maintenance data to identify trends, recurring patterns, and root causes; assessing repair effectiveness; and recommending solutions to improve reliability, safety, and operational performance. The incumbent will coordinate communications among field personnel, issue information and directives on behalf of the Assistant Vice President (AVP), and keep staff informed of significant developments affecting Maintenance of Way (MOW) special projects. Additional responsibilities include ensuring completion of required employee training, preparing reports, and providing actionable recommendations. This position requires availability to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A High School Diploma or its educational equivalent. Eight (8) years of professional experience. Six (6) years of managerial/supervisory experience DESIRED SKILLS: A baccalaureate from an accredited college or university in Transportation Management or a satisfactory equivalent is preferred. Extensive experience and knowledge of transportation operations and safety standards. Experience in repair, testing, maintenance, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and installation of signal and/or track components. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment. Knowledge of maintenance and project management. Knowledge of procurement procedures, safety rules, and labor contracts. Excellent verbal and written skills. Can demonstrate ability to apply interpersonal skills. SELECTION METHOD Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment.
