General Manager -Clothing Retail

Responsibilities Lead and motivate the retail team to achieve sales targets while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational excellence. Oversee daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, POS system management, and shift management. Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, merchandising, pricing strategies, and purchasing to maximize profitability. Recruit, interview, train, and develop staff members to build a skilled and motivated team aligned with company goals. Implement employee orientation programs and ongoing training initiatives to enhance team performance and product knowledge. Conduct regular performance evaluations, manage employee relations, and ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations. Utilize management skills to oversee payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, budgeting, and operational planning for the store. Develop marketing strategies to attract new customers while maintaining excellent customer service standards through effective communication skills. Monitor sales data using POS systems and retail math principles to analyze performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly. Ensure inventory management accuracy through inventory audits, stock rotation, and inventory control procedures. Maintain organized store environment through effective merchandising, stocking, and store presentation practices. Handle customer inquiries with professionalism using phone etiquette skills while resolving issues promptly to ensure satisfaction. Experience Proven management experience within the retail industry, specifically in clothing or fashion retail environments. Demonstrated success in supervising sales teams with strong leadership capabilities in a fast-paced setting. Extensive knowledge of retail sales techniques, inventory management systems (POS), merchandising, pricing strategies, and operational procedures. Experience in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and conducting training & development programs. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities such as budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and stock control simultaneously. Excellent communication skills Familiarity with retail industry sales team management tools including POS systems and wireless sales platforms is advantageous. Ability to perform basic math accurately for cash handling, cashiering duties, sales calculations, and inventory counts. Previous experience in grocery store or similar retail environments is considered a plus but not mandatory.
