Job Purpose The General Manager directs daily business operations and develops effective strategies to support long-term growth and profitability. This role includes learning and applying Stand Strong Fence’s structured management processes and completing required training. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of business operations, expertise in budgeting and financial management, and strong leadership skills. The General Manager implements company policies, monitors performance, and works to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) for customer service, profitability, revenue, and budget performance. The role also involves building, developing, and leading a professional team that completes daily work to company standards. Compensation $70,000–$80,000 per year, with incentive components. Primary Responsibilities Represent Stand Strong Fence professionally. Build community relationships and professional networks. Develop knowledge of fencing products, technical requirements, industry practices, and company processes. Monitor the market, competitors, and industry trends to identify business and marketing opportunities and present them to the owners. Oversee daily operations, including material procurement, subcontractor coordination, installations, production, and office administration. Maintain appropriate inventory levels. Develop and implement strategies to support growth, manage budgets, and improve revenue and profitability. Analyze business results using KPI reports. Complete vehicle inspections to support maintenance requirements. Oversee ongoing training for managers and staff. Evaluate the performance and productivity of direct reports and oversee the performance of indirect reports. Maintain professional standards across the team and respond promptly to employee concerns and customer needs. Communicate with customers and coworkers professionally and respectfully. Respond to prospective customers’ questions promptly. Maintain accurate business records, personnel documents, task information, and other operational data. Perform other duties assigned by the owners. Skills and Experience Communication: Convey information clearly and effectively. Active listening: Listen attentively, ask appropriate questions, and confirm understanding. Sales coordination: Work with ownership and the person responsible for sales to support project handoffs and operational planning. Active learning: Apply new information to problem-solving and decision-making. Persuasion: Explain recommendations clearly and gain support for decisions. Negotiation: Help others reach agreements and resolve differences. Time management: Manage personal priorities and coordinate the work of others. Experience and Education At least 5 years of management or leadership experience in a service or installation business. A degree in Business Management or an equivalent qualification is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Strong leadership skills and a proactive approach to work. Experience reading and interpreting financial statements and using them to manage business performance. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, and bring people together to work effectively. Ability to present information clearly to customers, homeowners, and employees in individual and group settings. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, QuickBooks or similar accounting software, and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
