General Laborer - TEMP POSITION THRU 12/22

JOIN OUR TEAM! Superior Metal Products, Inc. is looking for a motivated individual to fulfill the General Laborer position with our company. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 5:30 am to 4:00 pm, and 4:30 pm to 2:00 am for 2nd Shift with Overtime opportunities on Fridays. We are a temperature controlled facility striving to bring comfort to our staff. SMP will close on or around December 22, 2026, we are looking for staff to help our business finish strong. Job description Position Overview: The primary role of a Machine Shop General Laborer is to assist with various tasks in the production, and maintenance of machinery. Overall, a general laborer in a machine shop plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the shop and the quality of the products produced. The job requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and follow safety procedures. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Operate and maintain machinery: may be required to operate various machines, such as lathes, drills, and grinders to assist with the production of parts. Will be responsible for maintaining the machines, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition. Material handling: May need to move materials around the shop floor, including raw materials, finished parts, and tools. This may involve the use of a forklift, hand truck, or other equipment. Cleaning and organizing: Will be responsible for keeping work area clean and organized. May involve sweeping floors, wiping down machines, and putting tools and materials away when not in use. Quality control: Will be expected to inspect parts for defects or imperfections, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel. General support: May be asked to perform various other tasks to support the production process, such as cutting materials, packaging parts, and assisting other Team Members. Other duties: The general laborer may be asked to perform other duties as needed, such as assisting with inventory management, shipping and receiving, or other tasks related to the operation of the machine shop. Skills: Safety first mindset. Must show high levels of professionalism, honesty and integrity at all times. Must be able to hire and develop great Team Members while expecting and requiring team innovation. Mut be a strategic thinker while staying on top of tactical executions. Must be action and result oriented. Must be an effective communicator. Have equal sense of urgency when acting on difficult and easy decisions. Shows a consistent positive attitude. Qualifications/Education: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to complete each essential duty to a satisfactory standard.
