Furniture Logistics and Inventory Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY The Furniture Logistics and Inventory Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement, organization, preparation, and pricing of donated furniture from the time it arrives at Blessings Abound until it is placed on the sales floor or directed to another appropriate destination. This is a hands-on position that works closely with Dock, Truck, Floor, and Furniture Repair staff to ensure furniture is accepted appropriately, handled efficiently, maintained in good condition, and moved through the inventory process in an organized and timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Screen furniture donations at the drop-off area to determine whether items meet Blessings Abound acceptance standards. Work with Dock staff to identify situations that should be referred to management for additional review. Sort incoming furniture and determine the appropriate destination, including the sales floor, furniture inventory storage, MBA Boutique, Furniture Repair, Flourish, recycling, compactor, or disposal. Assist Truck staff with unloading and placement of furniture. Review expected incoming items and coordinate with Floor staff to prepare appropriate destinations before truck arrivals. Maintain furniture inventory storage in a clean, safe, and highly organized manner. Establish and communicate designated storage areas for different furniture categories. Help ensure furniture is not placed in unauthorized storage areas, walkways, entrances, or other locations that could interfere with operations or create safety concerns. Prepare incoming furniture for sale by cleaning items, completing minor repairs, identifying missing parts, and coordinating more extensive repairs with the Furniture Repair team. Locate or assist with ordering replacement or missing furniture parts when appropriate. Price furniture being moved from inventory storage to the sales floor, furniture going directly to the floor, and furniture requiring replacement price tags. Work with Floor staff to coordinate the movement and placement of furniture from storage to the sales floor. Serve as a backup to Floor staff as needed, including assisting with customer service, furniture sales, customer loadouts, merchandising, and general floor operations. May ride in or drive the Blessings furniture truck Maintain effective communication with Dock, Truck, Floor, Furniture Repair, and management staff regarding furniture inventory and operational needs. Follow Blessings Abound safety procedures and help maintain safe, clean, and organized furniture work and storage areas. Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of Blessings Abound. QUALIFICATIONS Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to make practical decisions regarding furniture condition, placement, and inventory needs. Good communication and teamwork skills. Comfortable working directly with customers, donors, volunteers, and employees. Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple departments. Basic knowledge of furniture, furniture condition, pricing, or repair is helpful but not required. Willingness to perform a variety of hands-on duties in a thrift store and warehouse environment.
