Associated Grocers is currently seeking a talented and driven individual to join our incredible team as a Freight Operations Specialist! In this fast-paced role, you’ll coordinate daily freight movements, partner with carriers and internal teams, and ensure shipments move efficiently and on time. You’ll play a key role in resolving issues, managing load execution, and delivering exceptional service while supporting overall performance and profitability.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.       Secure/Confirm carrier capacity in alignment with routing guides and procurement strategy

2.       Monitor and Confirm pickup and delivery appointments (CPU, drop-trailer, live load/unload)

3.       Monitor in-transit performance and prevent service failures

4.       Serve as operational point of contact for assigned lanes and internal teams

5.       Serve as operational point of contract, for missing information regarding all PO's.

6.       Provide proactive updates on load status, delays, and recovery plans

7.       Resolve service disruptions including detention, lumper disputes, and breakdowns

8.       Manage load-level profitability and understand buy vs. sell rate dynamics

9.       Support KPI tracking including OTD, RDD compliance.

10.    Daily communication with our TMS partner

Education and/or Experience                                                             

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to four years related experience.

Language Skills                                                       

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                              

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability                                                  

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                                              

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Proficient in utilization of the Warehouse Management System

Other Skills and Abilities:

 ·         1–3+ years in transportation, logistics, 3PL, or brokerage operations

·         Strong communication and organizational skills

·         Ability to manage high-volume freight in a fast-paced environment

·         Experience with TMS platforms and Microsoft Excel

·         Knowledge of FTL, LTL, and intermodal freight (preferred)
