Role Description The Freight Forwarding Sales Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in Itasca, IL, responsible for developing and growing new and existing customer accounts in international freight forwarding and logistics. Day-to-day, this role identifies and qualifies prospective customers, conducts sales calls and in-person meetings, and presents tailored transportation solutions that align with customer needs. The representative prepares quotes and proposals, negotiates rates and terms with clients, and collaborates with operations teams to ensure accurate booking, documentation, and shipment execution. The position involves tracking account performance, resolving service issues in coordination with internal departments, and maintaining a strong pipeline through regular follow-up, networking, and market research. This role requires consistent on-site collaboration with colleagues and customers to build long-term relationships and support organizational growth. Qualifications Proven sales and business development skills in freight forwarding, logistics, or related transportation services, including prospecting, lead generation, and closing deals. Strong customer relationship management abilities, with experience in account management, client consultation, and delivering responsive, solution-oriented service. Solid communication and negotiation skills, including clear verbal and written communication, effective presentation capabilities, and confident rate and contract negotiation. Working knowledge of international shipping practices, such as ocean and air freight, documentation requirements, Incoterms, and basic regulatory and compliance concepts. Good organizational and analytical skills, including pipeline management, use of CRM tools, and attention to detail in pricing, documentation, and follow-through. Comfort with using standard business software (e.g., CRM systems, Microsoft Office) and learning company-specific platforms and freight management tools. Ability to work on-site in Itasca, IL, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage a mix of office-based tasks and customer-facing activities. Relevant education or experience in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field; prior work in freight forwarding or international trade is highly beneficial.
