Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule freight shipments by communicating with drivers, carriers, and clients via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels. Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Manage transportation planning activities by analyzing data within transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to improve dispatch efficiency. Enter accurate shipment details into logistics databases like AS400 and Fleet management software to maintain real-time freight tracking records. Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring proper documentation, adherence to safety standards, and timely delivery of freight. Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, vehicle schedules, and customer interactions while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. Handle customer service inquiries related to freight status, delivery schedules, or logistical issues with professionalism using phone call management skills and phone etiquette. Skills Strong understanding of road transportation operations, logistics, fleet management, and shipping & receiving procedures. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently using Microsoft Office applications and vehicle dispatch software. Effective communication skills for internal coordination and external customer interactions via multi-line phone systems and phone communication protocols. Data entry expertise with high accuracy in fast-paced environments; familiarity with typing standards for quick documentation updates. Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations to ensure compliance during dispatching activities.
