Freight Dispatcher

Job Summary Keep freight moving safely and efficiently as a Freight Dispatcher. You’ll coordinate drivers, vehicles, and shipments across road transportation operations, using dispatch tools and clear communication to respond to changing schedules and customer needs. This role connects drivers, customers, and internal teams to support reliable transportation planning and logistics. Responsibilities Dispatch freight and assign vehicles based on shipment details, availability, routes, and delivery schedules. Track vehicles and shipments using GPS (Global Positioning System), vehicle dispatch software, and transportation management systems; update records through accurate data entry. Manage incoming calls, coordinate with drivers and customers, and share timely updates with internal teams. Support shipping and receiving, fleet management, and 3PL (third-party logistics) coordination while following applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Your impact: Accurate dispatching and timely updates help drivers stay coordinated and customers receive dependable freight service. Skills Essential: Strong communication, customer service, phone etiquette, phone communication, multi-line phone systems, organizational skills, typing, and analysis skills. Essential: Experience or familiarity with freight, road transportation operations, dispatching, transportation management, supply chain, and logistics. Preferred: Microsoft Office, GIS (geographic information system), GPS, transportation planning, and transportation management systems. Preferred: Oracle Transportation Management, vehicle dispatch software, 3PL coordination, and shipping and receiving.
