Role Description The Freight Broker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chattanooga, TN. This role focuses on building and maintaining carrier and customer relationships, negotiating freight rates, and arranging transportation for a variety of shipment types, including FTL, LTL, expedited, and specialized loads. Day-to-day responsibilities include prospecting and onboarding new customers, sourcing and qualifying carriers, managing dispatch activities, tracking loads, and resolving service issues to ensure on-time delivery. The Freight Broker will also maintain accurate load documentation, update internal systems, collaborate with operations and accounting teams, and proactively communicate shipment status to customers and carriers. Success in this role requires consistent follow-up, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Freight Brokerage and Brokerage, including rate negotiation, carrier sourcing, and load coordination. Candidates should possess strong Customer Service and Account Management skills to build relationships, manage expectations, and support long-term client partnerships. Candidates should possess Dispatching skills, including scheduling, load tracking, and effective communication with drivers and carriers. Candidates should possess solid communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills to handle multiple shipments and priorities. Knowledge of transportation regulations, modes (FTL, LTL, expedited, heavy haul), and industry best practices is beneficial. Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), CRM tools, and standard office software is preferred. Prior experience in logistics, transportation, or a freight brokerage environment is strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
