Forklift Operator – Scrap Metal Yard (Full-Time)
Airline Salvage Metals LLCAbout Us Airline Salvage Metals is a scrap metal recycling yard in Metairie, LA. We buy and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals from contractors, businesses, and the public. We’re looking for a dependable, safety-minded forklift operator to join our yard team. What You’ll Do Operate a forklift to load, unload, and move scrap metal, bins, and bales around the yard Unload incoming material from customer trucks and trailers Load outgoing containers, flatbeds, and trucks for shipment Sort and stage metals by type (steel, aluminum, copper, brass, etc.) Keep the yard and work areas organized, clear, and safe Perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections and report any issues Help with general yard labor when needed (sorting, cleanup, assisting customers) What We’re Looking For Experience operating a forklift (scrap yard, warehouse, or industrial setting preferred) Forklift certification preferred, or willingness to get certified Able to work outdoors in Louisiana heat and weather Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet for a full shift Reliable, on time, and serious about safety Knowledge of metal identification is a plus, but we’ll train the right person Pay & Schedule Pay: Starting at $15 per hour, based on experience Schedule: Monday–Saturday, 4 full days and 2 half days per week, rotating schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week Pay: From $15.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week Benefits: Paid time off People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Work Location: In person
