Forklift Operator Outdoors - Experienced

We are searching for an experienced, seated forklift operator to move and organize lumber around our yard. Loads are 8-10,000lbs and in bulk lumber with lengths from 8 to 24 feet. You will be operating a seated forklift outdoors with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and care for our product. This is an all-weather, year-round, outside role. You will be in the snow, sleet, rain, heat, constant wind. Your job would involve driving our concrete yard, in/out of storage buildings and other facilities. You would load semi trucks and unload rail cars of our bulk lumber in 8ft-24ft lengths. You must be a responsible individual with experience in driving industrial forklifts. The goal will be to ensure that the lumber will be in the right place with safety and quality in mind to achieve maximum efficiency. We are first-shift only company. We operate 7am-4:30pm, paying overtime after 40 hrs. We do expect in 2027 our hours to move to 7am-5pm. This is a full-time position M-F work week, no weekends required. No 2nd or 3rd shifts. There will be a pre-employment drug test, after a job offer is accepted. Responsibilities Unload materials from incoming trucks and/or rail cars and stack them to assigned places. (expected skill = forklift experience and efficiency.) Locate lumber on the yard and move materials to storage or for shipment. Memorization of yard locations is required Math skills. EX: How do you load 6 units at 12ft plus, 3 units at 20ft, 2U @ 18ft and 6U @ 16ft on a 48ft flatbed trailer? Safely load and unload, stacking to height of mast reach. (expected skill = follow OSHA 10hr guidelines) Daily inspection and recordkeeping on lift machine, reporting the need for repairs. Responsible for changing lift tires Log accurate tallies of incoming and outgoing material (expected skill = counting/math to record accurate units received or shipping) Comply with company policies and legal guidelines Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities Come dressed appropriate for Iowa weather and changes. Wind, rain, sleet, snow, negative degrees to hot summers. Skills / Credentials Valid driver's license 5+ years of current and proven experience as forklift operator. ( special attention given to operators of long length materials.) Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment Physically able to get in and out of forklift seat consistently, all shift. (Constant in/out of chair. This job is not seated only 8hr. You will be in/out constant.) Stand, twist, bend, high-step, throw chain daily and consistently.
