Forklift Operator / Lumber Yard

Job Summary Kerrisdale Lumber is looking for a forklift operator to join our contractor building-supply team in Vancouver. This is a steady, full-time, year-round position with a regular Monday-to-Friday daytime schedule, comprehensive benefits, and a company pension plan. Kerrisdale Lumber is a fourth-generation, family-owned company that has been serving Vancouver for more than 100 years. We are looking for someone who wants a stable long-term position, enjoys working as part of a team, and is interested in developing their skills in the building-supply industry. The role is based primarily in our lumber yard and involves building customer and delivery orders, loading trucks and customer vehicles, receiving material, and helping keep the yard organized and efficient. We are happy to train the right person. Previous forklift experience is preferred, but you do not need to be a highly experienced lumber-yard operator to be considered. Duties Operate a forklift safely in our lumber yard Build lumber and building-material orders for delivery and customer pickup Prepare and stage orders based on shipping and delivery priorities Load company trucks and customer vehicles Check orders for accuracy before they leave the yard Receive and organize incoming material Record order status and material movement in our computer system Communicate with our shipping, receiving, sales, and driver teams Help keep the yard safe, organized, and efficient Skills Previous forklift experience preferred Experience in a lumber yard, building supply, warehouse, or construction environment is an asset Good organizational and time-management skills Comfortable working outdoors and around building materials Comfortable using basic computer systems Able to safely lift and maneuver items weighing approximately 50 lbs Reliable, attentive, and able to work well as part of a team Willingness to learn and take on more responsibility over time Schedule Monday to Friday 8:30 AM–5 PM Full-time Overtime opportunities when available Pay & Benefits $23–$27+/hour, based on experience Comprehensive medical, dental, vison, and pharmaceutical coverage Company pension plan Paid vacation and statutory holidays Employee discount On-site parking Training and opportunities to develop within the company Why Kerrisdale Lumber?
