Forklift Operator – Chester, NY

This position is ideal for a dependable, safety-focused individual who takes pride in operating equipment safely, maintaining an organized yard, and ensuring every customer order is loaded accurately and efficiently . What You'll Do As a Forklift Operator, you will play a key role in our shipping and yard operations. You will safely move products, load customer trucks, maintain accurate inventory, and support Unilock's Quality Management System (QMS), 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Safely operate forklifts to load and unload trucks and move products throughout the yard Maintain a zero-loading-error standard by verifying product type, color, quantity, configuration, and shipping information before loading Use an electronic tablet to verify orders, shipping documents, and loading activities Perform daily forklift inspections and required safety checklists Accurately record inventory transfers, scrap, pallet returns, and other material movements Re-strap damaged bundles and maintain a safe, clean, and organized yard Follow 5S standards by maintaining organized, clearly identified, and efficient work areas Rotate inventory according to production dates and established inventory practices Inspect products for quality and promptly report damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming materials Support QMS requirements and established quality and operating procedures Provide professional and courteous service to customers, drivers, and coworkers Assist with cycle counts, year-end inventory, and inventory accuracy initiatives Participate in continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence initiatives Perform other duties and special projects as assigned What We're Looking For High School Diploma or GED At least 1 year of industrial forklift operating experience Experience operating 5,000–10,000 lb. outdoor forklifts preferred Ability to successfully complete Unilock's forklift certification and testing requirements Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining zero loading errors Ability to accurately identify product types, colors, sizes, quantities, and configurations Basic computer and tablet proficiency Ability to read shipping documents and perform basic math calculations Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs . and perform repetitive physical tasks Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety and quality Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment What We Offer Starting wage: $21.00/hour , with higher compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications Health benefits effective the first of the month following your date of hire 401(k) with company match and profit-sharing Up to 2 weeks of vacation during your first year Paid holiday shutdown between Christmas and New Year's Semi-annual performance bonus opportunities If you're an experienced forklift operator who takes pride in safety, accuracy, quality, and teamwork, we want to hear from you!
