Position Summary: The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and other authorized material-handling equipment to load, unload, move, stack, and organize materials throughout the warehouse. This position supports daily warehouse operations by ensuring the accurate handling, storage, and movement of products while maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting shipping and receiving schedules, and following established safety procedures. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced in working in a fast-paced warehouse or industrial environment. Key Responsibilities: Operate sit-down, stand-up, or reach forklifts to load, unload, move, and stack materials Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns Accurately pick, stage, and transport materials according to work orders or shipping documents Assist in receiving and verifying incoming shipments Maintain inventory accuracy by properly labeling and storing materials Ensure materials are properly secured and organized to prevent damage or safety hazards Follow all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations for forklift operation Work closely with shipping, receiving, and production teams to support workflow Maintain clean and orderly work areas Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one Heavy forklift certification a plus Rigging and signaling certification a plus 1+ year of forklift experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred Experience in steel yards, lumber yards, or heavy industrial environments. Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions or pick tickets Strong attention to safety and detail Familiarity with unloading railcars and loading flatbeds (often uneven ground, tight spaces). Working Conditions: Indoor/outdoor warehouse or yard environment May be exposed to heat, cold, or dust depending on the location Requires wearing PPE such as steel-toe boots, safety vests, etc. Physical fitness: Ability to sit for long periods, turn head and body to monitor surroundings, use hand/foot controls.
