Forklift Operator

Key Responsibilities: Safely operate forklift and material‑handling equipment in a food production environment Remove finished product, pallets, or totes from production lines in a timely manner Transport finished goods to assigned coolers or cold‑storage locations Stage and stack product according to storage, spacing, and airflow requirements Verify product identification, quantities, lot numbers, and labels before storage Maintain FIFO and FEFO inventory practices Ensure products are moved promptly to maintain temperature and product quality Keep production lines clear of finished products to prevent backups or delays Perform pre‑shift forklift inspections and report equipment issues Follow all GMP, HACCP, food safety, and OSHA requirements Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas Communicate production flow issues or product concerns to supervisors Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Prevent product damage, contamination, and allergen cross‑contact Ensure finished products are protected and stored within required temperature zones Support traceability, lot control, and recall readiness procedures Qualifications & Skills Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification Previous forklift experience in food production or cold storage preferred Understanding of cooler operations and product flow Ability to read labels, production paperwork, and lot codes Strong attention to safety and detail Forklift operation (sit down, stand up, pallet jack) Time management and efficiency Teamwork and communication Reliability and consistent attendance Preferred Qualifications Experience handling finished food products Familiarity with cold chain requirements WMS or inventory scanning system experience Physical requirements: Ability to lift to 50lbs Pushing/pulling/bending/twisting Standing for more than 50% Environmental requirements: Ability to work in extreme temperatures Light exposure to processing chemicals This job description is only a summary of the typical functions of the job, not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible responsibilities, tasks, and duties.
