It is the first HPP tolling facility in New Mexico, providing shelf-lengthening technology to food manufacturers across the State. The new 20,000 sf refrigerated facility opened in April 2021. Job Overview The Forklift Driver operates the forklift for all warehouse needs, including loading and unloading inbound and outbound shipments and moving product and materials throughout the facility, including cold storage areas. The Forklift Driver also supports material handling: loading and unloading items for HPP processing, case packing and palletizing, and sanitation of equipment and storage areas. The position follows correct operating procedures for food safety and occupational health and safety. The position reports directly to the Director of Operations and works closely with the receiving and merchandising team members. This position will report to work in Albuquerque at the food manufacturing facility near Balloon Fiesta Park. On-the-job training is provided, however prior forklift and warehouse experience is required . The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a mechanical background and attention to detail, who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to lead by example in a dynamic work environment. Tasks: Operate a forklift for all warehouse needs. Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments. Move, put away, and retrieve pallets in the warehouse and cold storage racking. Complete required pre-shift forklift inspections and report equipment issues before operating. Load and unload packaged food items in a cold room. Label products, packing items, and sorting material. Pack and store materials and products. Follow GMP processes, lock out-tag out (LOTO), safety, and all other company policies and procedures. Maintain a clean work area, machines, equipment, and products. Use electric pallet jacks for material movement. Maintain accurate counts of product and shipments. Pivot job assignments as necessary to accommodate customer needs. Required Qualifications: Minimum 1 year of forklift operating experience. Experience working in a warehouse environment. High school diploma or equivalent. Commitment to quality teamwork and ability to communicate expectations in a positive manner. Ability to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job. Ability to work under special work conditions such as extreme heat or cold. Preferred Qualifications: 2 or more years of forklift operating experience. Trained in the fundamentals of food safety, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing and Distribution Practices. Trained in Lock Out-Tag Out. Knowledge of OSHA and other governmental regulations; incident and accident prevention. Experience in food manufacturing or cold storage warehouse work. Experience with push-back pallet racking. Working Conditions Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing ready-to-eat refrigerated products. Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve handling of raw materials, finished cases of product, or bags of refuse. You will be required to observe hygiene and wear safety glasses during sanitation. The work environment is cold and requires standing and walking during the full shift. Schedule Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Two paid 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch.
