And probably more than a few words the service manuals left out. Four or more years working on vehicles taught you a few things. How to find the problem. How to make the repair. And how long “just one more bolt” can actually take. I’m Jake, owner of HTC Automotive in Boulder. We’re looking for someone with experience diagnosing and repairing diesel vehicles. Solid general repair skills, and pride in what they do. Someone who likes solving problems and can work well with the people around them. You’ve put time into learning this trade. We’d like to know what you can do with it. The work We service diesel vehicles up to Class 5, along with general automotive repairs. You’ll work on vehicles for both individual and business customers, with business customers coming through your bay more often. Inspections, maintenance, diagnosis, and mechanical repairs. Engines, transmissions, fuel systems, electrical, brakes, suspension, the work will vary. Bring your strengths in diesel repair, engine work, electrical diagnosis, or other mechanical systems. We’d like to hear about the repairs you handle confidently and the skills you’re continuing to develop. We’re interested in what you can do, not just the years on your resume. What we expect Reading the repair plan, documenting what you find, and keeping the team updated. Following the specified torque and tightening procedures. Checking your work and making sure the original concern was addressed. Keeping your bay, tools, and customer vehicles properly cared for. Speaking up when something changes or you need another opinion. Owning mistakes and helping us get them sorted out. Clear notes, photos, and test results help the team track repair progress and keep customers informed. Your team Our service advisors handle customer communication and approvals. Your findings help them explain what the vehicle needs clearly and honestly. Our diagnostic and quality-control foreman and I are available for technical direction and support. I bring 12 years of diesel experience myself. You bring the ability to handle a broad range of repairs independently, along with the judgment to ask for help when it makes sense. We’re an independent, owner-operated shop. Customers trust us with their vehicles. We want people who take that seriously and can still enjoy the work. What you’ll need At least four years of hands-on light-duty diesel repair experience. Experience with diesel vehicles up to Class 5 and air brake systems is a plus. Confidence with vehicle systems, maintenance, mechanical repairs, and diagnostic testing. Comfort using digital repair orders, shop software, diagnostic equipment, and service information. Clear communication and care for the customer experience. Tools, obviously. ASE certifications are welcome. So is being able to walk us through a difficult repair and explain how you figured it out. Pride in your work. Do it right and show off your skill with all that effort you put in. Pay and benefits are listed with this post. Call if you’d like to know more. Schedule: Currently Available Shifts Mon - Fri 7:30a to 5:00p or Tues - Sat 7:30a to 5:00p You made it all the way to the end of this post. Send your resume or a short introduction. Tell us what you’re good at, what you want from your next shop, and what questions you have for us. We’d like to hear about your experience and what would make HTC the right next shop for you.
