Our programs are built around meaningful engagement, friendship, dignity, and connection. The Food Services Coordinator plays an important behind-the-scenes role in making that experience possible—ensuring our members are well fed, our programs are well supplied, and valuable community resources are put to good use. JOB Summary: The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Friendship Center’s kitchen, meal service, food partnerships, and organizational supply inventory. This position helps ensure that Friendship Center members receive nutritious, appealing meals and snacks each day while maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked kitchen. The Coordinator also serves as Friendship Center’s primary point person for relationships with community food partners, including local restaurants, the Foodbank, Veggie Rescue, and other food donation and sustainability programs. In addition to food service responsibilities, this position manages inventory and ordering of general program and household supplies and may pick up food, donations, or supplies as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, resourceful, comfortable working independently, and enjoys being part of a lively, people-centered environment. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES: Primary Responsibilities Food Service & Kitchen Coordination ● Coordinate daily food service for approximately 25–55 Friendship Center members. Breakfasts and snacks to be prepared, lunch is provided by an outside vendor. ● Prepare, plate, and serve nutritious breakfasts, lunches and healthy afternoon snacks ● Prepare or modify meals for members with allergies, dietary restrictions, texture modifications, or other special dietary needs ● Prepare breakfast items and supplies for program staff for the following day ● Maintain an organized, functional, and welcoming kitchen ● Monitor food inventory, expiration dates, and appropriate food rotation ● Properly label, date, store, and dispose of food according to food safety standards ● Ensure appropriate quantities of food and supplies are available for daily programming ● Communicate proactively with program staff regarding menus, dietary needs, shortages, or other food-service needs Kitchen Cleaning & Food Safety ● Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation throughout the day ● Wash and sanitize dishes, trays, containers, utensils, and food preparation equipment ● Clean and sanitize countertops, food preparation surfaces, appliances, stovetop, and oven ● Sweep and mop kitchen floors and maintain clean food storage areas ● Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the following program day ● Follow all applicable food safety and sanitation practices Food Partnerships & Sustainability ● Serve as Friendship Center’s primary coordinator for community food partnerships, including the Foodbank, Veggie Rescue, and other food organizations ● Place Foodbank and partner orders and coordinate pickups and deliveries ● Maintain positive, professional relationships with food donors and community partners ● Identify opportunities to responsibly utilize donated and rescued food within Friendship Center’s meal program ● Help reduce food waste through thoughtful ordering, inventory management, food rotation, and use of donated products ● Track food donations or partnership activity as needed fo…
