Food Resource & Inventory Coordinator
Food Bank of Northeast LouisianaSUMMARY Monitors, forecasts and ensures adequate inventory levels of all Food Bank product. Oversees produce acquisition, food purchasing and commodity ordering. Ensures that all food acquisition activities reflect the highest level of professionalism, follows best business practices and creates positive community relations. Manages CSFP inventory and reporting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Work with full Operations team to analyze and project run rates and identify current need of product, and plans accordingly to maintain consistent and adequate levels of all inventory. Responsible for local food donor development and ongoing relationships with farmers, food wholesalers, manufacturers and distributors, retail/wholesale grocers and food service companies. Understand, manage, and utilize Feeding America’s CHOICE system to acquire nationally donated product Responsible for purchasing food when grants are awarded or as needed; and works closely with the E.D., Operations, and Accounting departments to assure accurate receipt and tracking of purchases Work with Operations team and appropriate team members to coordinate, choose and order purchased food and commodity items as needed Identify potential food donors, manufacturers and growers in twelve parish region Implement a visitation plan for current and potential food donors, including lapsed donors Maintain a key contact spreadsheet for all food donors and vendors Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with Feeding America Food Sourcing Department, national manufacturers, distributors, producers, processors, vendors, transportation partners and peers at other Food Banks Oversee the Commodity Senior Food Program (CSFP) inventory and reporting Coordinate with Feeding Louisiana and Louisiana Dept of Health to maintain adequate CSFP inventory levels for continuous box packing, ensuring boxes meet the required food component guidelines. Forecast monthly product needs based on projected participation numbers to ensure sufficient inventory is on hand in order to avoid delays in CSFP box production Prepare and submit monthly inventory reports in compliance with federal and state requirements, reconciling participation rates with distribution data with the Agency Services Mgr. Work with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure appropriate number of boxes are being packed in a timely manner for CSFP caseload needs. Oversee the Retail Rescue Program (RRP) and the Feeding America Blue Receipt process for the program. Track and ensure that Agency Partners are reporting the pounds they have picked up at the retail stores, and work with Agency Services team to manage/train/monitor agencies participating in the RRP Work with/train participating stores in the RRP to ensure program guideline adherence and that food safety and donation guidelines are followed Develop a quarterly plan for visiting stores, maintaining contact and open communication with all Retail Rescue partners. Work closely with other team members and help to develop product marketing and distribution strategies for slow moving products and/or perishable items as needed. Track, analyze, and report on selected metrics; pounds, donation by category, current, lapsed, or prospective donors as needed Work with Communications team to recognize food donors as needed and applicable (Food Bank newsletter, website, etc.) Create and maintains a Food Bank recognition and appreciation program for food donors Participate in continual improvement in all aspects of product flow and safe food handling, researches innovative and unique methods for increasing food donations Demonstrate a pleasant, professional and helpful attitude at all times Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
