Production Supervisor As a Production Supervisor, you will manage daily operations for two to six production lines and approximately 60 team members per shift. You will lead through your presence, not just processes—spending time on the factory floor, coaching supervisors, and collaborating with teams in Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain (even though they do not report directly). Your role combines strategic planning with hands-on involvement, aiming to achieve operational excellence, uphold accountability, and promote continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead and coach hourly employees: Mentor team members, fostering a team-first, floor-focused environment. Maintain Floor Presence: Stay visible and engaged—troubleshoot production issues, staff gaps, material flow, and equipment reliability. Optimize Production Performance: ◦ Throughput: Monitor line speeds, manage capacity, reduce scrap, and ensure efficient changeovers. ◦ Metrics: Establish and review KPIs (e.g., output, rejects, downtime) weekly with senior leadership. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Communicate daily with Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve delays or material issues. Champion Continuous Improvement: Utilize lean tools (5S, kaizen) to optimize operations, reduce waste, and enhance line performance. Enforce Food Safety & Sanitation: Lead nightly sanitation and cleaning routines—monitor compliance and support six-day production cycles. Resource & Labour Management: Adjust staffing levels and shift plans in real-time; manage performance issues with clarity and fairness. Problem Solving: Make confident decisions—know when to escalate to senior leadership, seek OEM support, or involve cross-functional experts. Reporting & Communication: Participate in daily production huddles and weekly leadership updates; prepare materials for the COO and Plant Manager. Safety & Compliance: Uphold and adhere to GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and WorkSafe BC standards on the floor. Requirements & Qualifications Experience: Over 3 years in food manufacturing, including more than 1 year in leadership roles (supervisor/manager) overseeing multiple production lines. Leadership Style: Proven ability to lead with energy—visible, engaged, and approachable on the floor. Lean/Food Safety: Extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, HACCP, GMP, and CFIA protocols. Metrics-Driven: Skilled in managing KPIs, tracking losses, and presenting results. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong problem-solving skills; proven ability to build partnerships with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and production teams. Hands-On Aptitude: Willing to jump into production, assist with processes or spot issues, and support supervisor development. Communication: Effective planner, coach, and communicator who can influence change and uphold accountability. Adaptability: Confident in managing six-day schedules that include sanitation cycles and changing production demands. Preferred Experience with modern food production techniques and packaging lines. Certifications in Lean, Kaizen, or Production Management. Exposure to budget oversight or labour forecasting. The Production Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager or Senior Supervisor and is responsible for overseeing all operational activities on assigned production line(s).
