Florist / Floral Designer Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time Monday-Saturday Reports To: Owner Position Summary NewFloral Shop in Pittsburg is seeking a creative, dependable, and customer-focused Florist / Floral Designer to join us and manager our team.Our shop specializes in unique designed floral arrangements, Weddings, Events and personalized experiences inspired by the beauty and meaning of flowers.The ideal candidate has a passion for floral design, a strong attention to detail, excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a small boutique environment. This position combines artistic floral design with daily retail responsibilities, inventory management, event preparation, and customer relationship building.Essential Job Responsibilities Floral Design & Production: Create beautiful, high-quality floral arrangements for everyday occasions, holidays, weddings, funerals, and special events.Design hand-tied bouquets, vase arrangements, corsages, boutonnieres, and custom floral pieces.Apply floral design principles, including color theory, balance, proportion, texture, and composition.Assist with wedding and event floral preparation, installation, and breakdown as needed.Follow customer preferences, budgets, and design specifications.Maintain consistency with the shop’s floral design standards and brand aesthetic.Ensure arrangements are completed accurately and within required timeframes. Occasional Delivery and Event attendance offsite Customer Service & Sales: Provide exceptional, friendly, and personalized customer service.Assist customers with flower selections, custom orders, gifts, and special occasions.Answer telephone calls, respond to customer inquiries, and process floral orders onlineProvide knowledgeable recommendations regarding flower varieties, seasonal availability, and floral care.Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process transactions.Resolve customer concerns professionally and courteously. Build relationships with repeat customers and community members. Flower Care & Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, process, and properly store fresh floral shipments.Maintain flower freshness through proper cutting, hydration, conditioning, and cooler management.Monitor product quality and remove damaged or aging inventory.Rotate floral inventory to minimize waste and product loss.Assist with tracking floral supplies, hard goods, and retail merchandise.Notify management of low inventory and purchasing needs.Maintain organized floral workstations, coolers, and storage areas.Retail Store OperationsAssist with opening and closing procedures.Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail environment.Create attractive floral and merchandise displays and weekly specials Restock retail merchandise, wrapping supplies, ribbons, containers, and floral materials. Prepare customer orders for pickup or delivery. Assist with seasonal displays, holiday promotions, and special shop events. Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Teamwork & Business Support Collaborate with the owner and other team members to meet daily production needs. Assist with floral workshops, classes, and special community events. Support social media content creation by photographing completed floral designs when requested. Demonstrate flexibility during high-volume floral holidays, including Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and prom season. Maintain professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude. Perform additional duties as assigned to support boutique operations. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in floral design, floral retail, or a related creative field. Knowledge of fresh flower care, floral mechanics, and floral arrangement techniques. Experience creating traditional, garden-style, English-inspired, or contemporary floral designs.
