1 YEAR MINIMUM FLORAL DESIGN EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! About Us Al Frache’s Flowers has proudly served Calgary for over 31 years, including 29 years at our original Mount Royal location. More than two years ago, we relocated to Marda Loop, moving into a space twice the size of our previous shop. Since the move, our walk-in business has doubled, and we continue to grow. As our business continues to expand, we are looking to add an experienced, creative, and customer-focused Floral Designer to our team. About the Role We are seeking a talented Floral Designer with at least one year of experience in the floral industry to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, a passion for floral artistry, and the ability to create beautiful, thoughtfully designed arrangements for a variety of occasions. This role combines creative floral design with customer service and daily retail operations. You will create everything from everyday bouquets and custom walk-in orders to wedding and sympathy arrangements while contributing to the smooth operation of our busy flower shop. Key Responsibilities Design and create fresh floral arrangements for everyday orders, weddings, funerals, special occasions, and custom requests. Assist walk-in customers with flower selection, design recommendations, and arrangements that suit their preferences and budgets. Maintain the freshness, quality, and presentation of flowers, plants, and in-store displays. Process incoming flowers, condition stems, prepare materials, and follow proper floral care practices. Support daily shop operations, including order preparation, packaging, merchandising, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Assist with inventory management, including monitoring floral supplies, containers, and other design materials. Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system and handle payments when required. Provide knowledgeable advice on flower selection, seasonal availability, and floral care. Collaborate with team members to ensure orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time. Stay current with floral design techniques, seasonal trends, and industry developments. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of one year of experience working in the floral industry is required. Demonstrated floral design skills and an understanding of colour, proportion, texture, and composition. Knowledge of flower varieties, seasonal availability, flower processing, and proper care techniques. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced retail environment. Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality floral designs. Retail experience, POS system knowledge, and cash-handling experience are considered assets. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and carry floral supplies and arrangements as required.
