JOB SUMMARY
As a Fleet Technician II, you will play a critical role in maintaining safe and reliable vehicles. You will assist fleet technicians in performing preventive maintenance inspections, repairs, and diagnosis to enhance vehicle reliability and reduce downtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on various vehicles and equipment including tractors, trailers, and lift gates, ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet.
• Perform quality maintenance repairs in compliance with company methods, addressing issues from driver vehicle inspection reports promptly and accurately.
• Diagnose malfunctions in vehicles, executing repairs according to manufacturer specifications across multiple systems such as engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
• Document all work performed in the Work Order system accurately using the Complaint, Cause, and Correction format.
• Familiarize yourself with and effectively use Sysco computer programs related to maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a 2-year technical training program specific to Medium/Heavy Duty trucks.
• Certification in Annual Inspection and Brake Inspection knowledge, along with ASE Certification in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty preferred.
• Experience with computer-based diagnostics software.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• 1 year of experience alongside a 2-year technical degree or 3 years of practical experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
• Valid Driver's License, with CDL-A preferred.
• Strong foundational knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
• Basic skills in diagnosing electrical systems and experience with welding and cutting.
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and other movements.
IMPACT AND COLLABORATION
The Fleet Technician will evaluate whether equipment is safe for operation and meets DOT regulations, prioritizing safety over operational costs. Collaboration with management to create a prioritized schedule for fleet maintenance is essential to ensure efficiency and compliance.
