Fleet Maintenance Technician VINS Service VINS Service is looking for a dependable, efficient Fleet Maintenance Technician to support our growing fleet operation. This is a full time hourly position focused primarily on Lyft and fleet vehicles. The goal of this position is simple: keep routine fleet work moving quickly and correctly without tying up our higher level diagnostic technicians. You do not need to be an A level technician. We are looking for someone who is strong with maintenance, tires, inspections, and basic mechanical repairs and who takes pride in consistent, quality work. What You’ll Do Perform oil and filter changes Perform tire installation, balancing, rotations, and repairs Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections on every applicable vehicle Perform fluid and routine maintenance services Replace filters, bulbs, wipers, batteries, and other basic maintenance items Perform basic brake and suspension repairs based on experience level Identify additional maintenance and repair needs during inspections Document inspection findings accurately with photos and notes Work directly with the Fleet Service Coordinator to keep vehicles moving Escalate diagnostic and advanced mechanical repairs to our A level technicians Perform quality checks before vehicles are returned to the fleet Maintain a clean and organized work area Take care of shop equipment and tools How the Position Works Fleet vehicles operate through a dedicated lane within VINS Service. The Fleet Service Coordinator handles scheduling, Holman and Tekmetric, approvals, communication, paperwork, and vehicle status. The Fleet Maintenance Technician owns the routine physical work on those vehicles. The basic process is: Vehicle arrives → DVI → Maintenance and routine repairs → Quality check → Vehicle returned to fleet If the inspection identifies a repair outside your skill level, the vehicle is routed to one of our A level technicians. You are not expected to diagnose or repair everything. You are expected to recognize what you can handle, complete it efficiently and correctly, and identify when something needs to be escalated. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate: Has automotive maintenance or general service experience Is comfortable performing oil changes and routine maintenance Has tire mounting and balancing experience Can perform thorough vehicle inspections Understands basic brakes, steering, suspension, and vehicle maintenance Works efficiently without sacrificing quality Can follow an established process consistently Documents work accurately Communicates well with the Fleet Service Coordinator and other technicians Is dependable and shows up ready to work Understands when a repair is outside their skill level Wants an opportunity to continue developing as a technician Preferred Experience Automotive technician, general service technician, C level technician, fleet maintenance, dealership express service, tire shop, or independent repair shop experience is preferred. Maryland State Inspector certification is not required for this position. Why This Position Matters This is not just an oil change position. The Fleet Maintenance Technician will be responsible for keeping a significant part of our fleet operation moving. You will have a defined lane, consistent work, support from a dedicated Fleet Service Coordinator, and experienced A level technicians available when a vehicle requires advanced diagnostics or repair. As the fleet operation grows, there will be opportunities for the right technician to grow with it.
