JLT has added new yard capacity to house up to 150 collection vehicles, supporting continued growth and operational efficiency. Role Description The Fleet Safety Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Upper Marlboro, MD. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring fleet safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Daily activities include conducting safety inspections of vehicles and facilities, leading driver and staff safety training, and performing accident and incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions. The Fleet Safety Manager collaborates with operations leadership to reduce risk, improve safety performance, and promote a culture of safety across all routes and yards. The role also involves maintaining safety documentation, tracking safety metrics, and recommending continuous improvements to occupational health and environmental health and safety practices. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety. Candidates should possess skills in Safety Training and Accident Investigation. Candidates should possess skills in Environment Health and Safety (EHS). Experience in fleet or transportation safety, preferably in waste collection or a related industry. Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, FMCSA and local safety regulations and compliance requirements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and incident reporting skills. Effective communication and coaching abilities to engage drivers and operations staff. Ability to work on-site, conduct field inspections, and respond to incidents as needed. Associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental health, logistics, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST) are a plus.
