Fleet Mechanic / Yard Manager

College Point Queens based contractor is looking for a full-time mechanic and yard manager for our construction office. The mechanic/yard manager will provide maintenance and repair services for company vehicles, equipment, and tools. Must have a valid driver’s license. CDL is a bonus. Duties and Responsibilities: Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repairs as required Coordinate advanced repair work with outside shops and mechanics Maintain logs and maintenance information on each vehicle for record Help maintain the organization and cleanliness of the shop and yard Clean, inspect, maintain equipment daily Check outgoing/incoming equipment Prepare and load material onto trucks for delivery Assemble/disassemble/clean equipment and tools Complete yard paperwork/documentation of incoming and outgoing material Coordinate and inspect quantity and quality of shipments coming and going from the yard General Qualifications: Mechanical aptitude Experience with vehicle diagnostics/troubleshooting and problem-solving Excellent attention to detail Be able to use email and Microsoft Office Good verbal/written communication skills Decision making/problem solving ability Able to lift up to 75 lbs Valid and clean driver’s license; CDL a plus Safety conscious Excellent attendance and punctual Common sense Performs other related duties as assigned Experience with backhoe maintenance a plus Experience with diesel engines a plus Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED Additional education from a vocational or technical school a plus Knowledge of automotive repair and electronics References required We Offer: Starting pay of $41/hr Paid Vacation after 6 months Company paid Medical Benefits after 6 months Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $41.00 per hour Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Experience: Diesel engine repair: 3 years (Required) Automotive diagnostics: 3 years (Required) Work Location: In person
