Role Description The Fleet Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX, responsible for maintaining and repairing company vehicles and heavy equipment used in paving and construction operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs on trucks, trailers, and specialized machinery. The role involves conducting safety inspections, documenting work performed, and ensuring all equipment is compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Fleet Mechanic collaborates with operations and field teams to prioritize repairs, minimize equipment downtime, and support safe, efficient project delivery. This position may require working in outdoor environments, handling tools and diagnostic equipment, and responding to urgent repair needs as they arise. Qualifications Strong maintenance skills, including general Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and Maintenance & Repair of vehicles and equipment. Experience working with Heavy Equipment commonly used in construction or paving environments. Proficiency in Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on a variety of fleet assets. Knowledge of safety practices, OSHA and DOT regulations, and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment. Prior experience as a fleet mechanic, automotive technician, or diesel mechanic in a construction or industrial setting. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance records. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or ASE/diesel certifications are a plus. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred. Capability to work on-site, lift moderate to heavy loads, and perform physical tasks in varying weather conditions. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with field and operations teams.
