A to Z Tree and Turf is a locally owned landscape company in Phoenix. We take care of High End Residential and HOA communities and commercial properties across the Valley, and every crew we send out depends on equipment that's ready to work. Right now that equipment doesn't have a full-time mechanic. We're hiring one. This is your shop to run, your maintenance schedule, your parts, your call, your responsibility. WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON Trucks and pickups: the whole fleet Trailers: equipment, dump, and utility Tractors, skid steers, and loaders Commercial size mowers: walk-behind and ride-on Chainsaws, blowers, trimmers, edgers, and hand equipment If you'd rather solve a different problem every day than do the same brake job forty times a week, you'll like it here. WHAT YOU'LL DO Preventive maintenance and repair across the fleet: oil, filters, transmission and differential service, brakes, cooling, charging systems Small engine work, carburetors, ignition, fuel systems, blade sharpening and balancing, deck leveling, spindles, belts Hydraulics and greasing on tractors, skid steers, and attachments Trailer work, leaf springs, axles, bearings, brakes, lights, 7-pin and breakaway wiring, decking, ramps Tires, mount, dismount, repair, rotate, and keep pressures right across everything we run 12-volt diagnosis and rewiring on trucks and trailers Minor MIG or stick welding to repair trailers, racks, gates, and equipment frames Build and hold a real PM schedule by unit, and keep the service records that go with it Run the shop! clean, organized, safe, and stocked with the parts you need Get crews rolling on time in the morning, and get them running again when something breaks in the field WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 5+ years of hands-on mechanical work across small engine, automotive or light truck, and heavy equipment Your own hand tools (we provide the specialty tools, shop equipment, and diagnostics) Valid Arizona driver's license and a clean driving record Able to diagnose 12-volt electrical and hydraulic systems Able to MIG or stick weld at repair grade and use a torch or plasma cutter safely Comfortable reading service manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in Arizona heat Able to pass a background check, pre-employment screening, and MVR check NICE TO HAVE Manufacturer certifications: STIHL, Kohler, Kawasaki, Briggs & Stratton, Exmark, Toro, Scag, John Deere, Kubota DOT annual inspector and brake inspector qualification A CDL. This job is a mechanic's job first, but if you hold a Class A or Class B we'll use it for occasional equipment and tree hauling, and we pay more for it. ASE certification Experience keeping a mixed commercial fleet running for a landscape, tree care, construction, or rental company Bilingual English/Spanish WHAT WE OFFER $30–$38 an hour depending on experience and whether you hold a CDL Paid weekly Steady year-round work, no seasonal layoff, no slow season sitting at home Company-provided specialty tools, shop equipment, and uniform
