Fleet Manager/Mechanic

Job Summary We are an established Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP) seeking a highly organized, dependable, and motivated Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and overall readiness of our delivery vehicle fleet. Our company operates approximately 45 delivery routes daily, and our success depends on maintaining a reliable, safe, and well-managed fleet. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, follows through on responsibilities, and understands the importance of preventative maintenance and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on management position requiring daily involvement with our vehicles, drivers, maintenance vendors, and operations team. Key Responsibilities Fleet Maintenance & Vehicle Readiness Oversee daily fleet operations to ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, and ready for service. Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to minimize vehicle downtime. Monitor vehicle mileage, maintenance schedules, and service requirements. Identify mechanical issues early and proactively arrange necessary repairs. Manage relationships with repair shops, dealerships, tire vendors, and other service providers. Track vehicles that are out of service and work to return them to operation as quickly as possible. Perform routine physical vehicle inspections and verify completed repairs. Fleet Safety & Compliance Ensure all vehicles meet applicable DOT, state, and company safety requirements. Monitor and address vehicle defects reported by drivers. Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records, inspection reports, and repair documentation. Ensure vehicle registrations, insurance documentation, and required inspections remain current. Assist with vehicle accident documentation, damage assessments, and repair coordination. Maintain compliance with applicable Amazon fleet standards and procedures. Fleet Organization & Accountability Maintain accurate records of fleet inventory, vehicle assignments, maintenance history, and expenses. Utilize fleet management software, spreadsheets, and digital checklists to track daily responsibilities. Conduct regular fleet audits and ensure all required tasks are completed on schedule. Monitor repair expenses and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs. Coordinate vehicle cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance. Provide regular updates to management regarding vehicle availability, outstanding repairs, and fleet performance. Driver & Operations Support Work closely with dispatchers, operations manager, and drivers to ensure adequate vehicle availability. Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and unexpected maintenance issues. Communicate vehicle status and repair timelines to the operations team. Ensure drivers properly report vehicle damage and mechanical concerns. Help establish a culture of vehicle care, safety, and accountability. Qualifications Required: Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently. Basic to intermediate knowledge of automotive maintenance and vehicle repair. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. Excellent communication and follow-through. Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, and fleet management software. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Willingness to work in a hands-on environment, including outdoor vehicle inspections. Preferred: Previous fleet management experience. Experience managing commercial vans, delivery vehicles, or transportation fleets. Experience working with Amazon DSP operations. Automotive repair, service advising, or maintenance coordination experience. Experience managing vendor relationships and repair budgets.
