Fleet Manager/Dispatcher

The Fleet Manager - flatbed trucking owns a book of assigned drivers and keeps freight moving on the driver-facing side of a combined Sales & Operations team. You'll dispatch, live-schedule loads, stay in constant contact with drivers, and solve problems on the road — with daily support and coaching from a Fleet Lead. What You'll Do Manage a dedicated book of drivers, starting at roughly 10–15 trucks and growing to a full book. Dispatch drivers and live-schedule freight once exact arrival times are confirmed. Run check calls and maintain proactive, ongoing driver communication. Problem-solve in real time and communicate early when issues arise. Help drivers hit their goals; catch and correct service failures. Broker committed loads when no company truck is available — post loads, work with approved outside carriers, negotiate rates, and protect margin. Coordinate driver compliance testing with the Safety team. Document driver concerns and escalate them appropriately. Partner with Account Managers on customer and load handoffs. What You'll Bring Experience in truckload dispatch, fleet management, or freight operations. Working knowledge of carrier brokerage, rate negotiation, and margin management. Strong communication skills and a calm, solutions-first approach under pressure. Organization and follow-through across a fast-moving, multi-driver workload. Comfort with a TMS (McLeod preferred), ELD/telematics (e.g., Samsara), load boards (e.g., Truckstop), and Microsoft 365. JMS Transport Services Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
