Fleet Maintenance Mechanic – Multi-Location Operations

Job Description Purple Routes Inc., a FedEx delivery contractor, is seeking an experienced and dependable Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of commercial delivery vehicles. This position is based in Pflugerville, TX, with travel to other company locations, including out-of-state facilities, approximately once per month. We are looking for a hands-on mechanic who can independently diagnose mechanical issues, perform repairs, and proactively maintain vehicles to minimize downtime and keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM), including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and vehicle inspections. Diagnose, maintain, and repair Freightliner and Ford step vans , Ford E350/E450 cutaways, Chevrolet 3500 cutaways and Freightliner and Ford box trucks . Perform brake repairs/replacements, tire replacements, tire rotations, suspension repairs, and other mechanical work. Troubleshoot and resolve engine, transmission, electrical, and cooling system issues. Diagnose and resolve vehicle breakdowns to minimize downtime. Identify potential mechanical problems before they result in costly repairs. Maintain accurate service records and track upcoming maintenance requirements. Coordinate with fleet managers to prioritize repairs and schedule preventive maintenance. Travel to other company locations, including out-of-state facilities, approximately once per month to perform maintenance and repairs. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 3 years of automotive or commercial fleet mechanic experience preferred. Experience working on Freightliner/Ford step vans, Ford E-Series, Chevrolet 3500 cutaways, or similar commercial vehicles strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of gasoline engines, transmission, brakes, and electrical systems. Ability to independently diagnose and complete mechanical repairs. Experience using diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to manage maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs. Valid driver's license required. Willingness to travel out of state approximately once per month, including overnight stays. Experience maintaining FedEx, UPS, or other commercial delivery fleets is a plus. ASE certifications are a plus but not required. Must be eligible for onboarding into the FedEx system to access company vehicles and facilities. Must successfully complete the required background check and drug screening as part of the FedEx onboarding process. Must maintain eligibility for FedEx facility access throughout employment. Compensation & Benefits Annual Salary: $60,000–$80,000 , depending on experience and qualifications. Full-time, stable employment.
