Fleet Inspection Assistant

Job Summary Wheels Transportation is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Fleet Inspection Assistant to support daily vehicle inspection and fleet safety operations. This position helps monitor vehicle conditions, organize inspection records, report maintenance concerns, and coordinate with fleet personnel to ensure vehicles remain safe and ready for scheduled transportation services. Key Responsibilities Assist with routine inspections of fleet vehicles. Check basic vehicle components, including tires, lights, mirrors, and visible safety equipment. Identify and report visible damage, defects, or maintenance concerns to supervisors. Help maintain accurate vehicle inspection checklists and reports. Track inspection schedules and follow up on required vehicle checks. Coordinate with maintenance personnel regarding reported vehicle issues. Assist with organizing vehicle records, service documents, and inspection paperwork. Help ensure vehicles are clean, organized, and prepared for operation. Follow company safety procedures and applicable vehicle inspection guidelines. Requirements and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Strong attention to detail and observation skills. Basic knowledge of vehicle components is helpful. Good communication and organizational abilities. Basic computer skills and recordkeeping experience. Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in transportation, vehicle inspection, or fleet maintenance is a plus but not required. Work Environment This position involves working around fleet vehicles in an inspection, transportation, or maintenance setting. Duties may include standing, walking around vehicles, completing inspection records, and communicating with drivers and maintenance staff.
